A New Era:
When Omega came onto the scene with the Planet Ocean in 2005, the watch world rejoiced. This was a professional tool watch, a modern reinterpretation of the venerated 1960s Seamaster 300 dive watches. However, with an upgrade to 600m water resistance, it was nearly 2mm thicker than its vintage counterparts. 
 
While these first-generation Planet Oceans wear quite nicely due to a well-proportioned distribution of height between bezel, midcase, and caseback, our team has been able to improve its ergonomics by reducing approximately 1mm from the overall height of the watch. 
 
 
How it's Made:
Our caseback consists of an outer ring, which we precision machine from 316L stainless steel. Then, we sandblast the slots for the opener tool, eliminating machining marks.
 
The engraving pays tribute to the groundbreaking rollout of the Co-Axial Chronometer movement, with the 'CO-AXIAL CHRONOMETER' text, as well as the model's lineage to the Seamaster Divers of the 1960s with the 'HIGH PRESSURE WATERPROOF OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED' engraving.
 
After polishing the outer bevel to a mirror finish and brushing the inner bevel to a fine grained texture, the steel ring is carefully fitted with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. We apply a colorless, multi-layer AR coating to its interior surface, ensuring clear viewing and photos of your movement.
