Installing a Rolex/Tudor-Style Caseback
This is a guide for the Do-It-Yourself installation of a Rolex/Tudor-style caseback.

Please note this guide will focus on installation of a caseback using our 3D-printed tools.

Locate Your Toolset
Ensure you have both the Round Tool (shown right) and the Holder Tool (shown left).

Place Your Watch Head In The Holder Tool
Place the watch head crystal-down into the Holder Tool as shown. Ensure the bracelet has been removed, or the watch head will not seat properly in the Holder Tool.

Note The Fine Splines
Rolex casebacks utilize fine splines, an evolution of the bezel knurling used on pocket watches. The tool must engage these splines in order to transmit torque to the caseback.

Ensure Axial Compression
(if applicable)
Due to the fine splines, insufficient axial compression may cause the round tool to slip. Ensure the tools are held firmly and securely prior to torque application.

Remove The Caseback
With the crystal facing down, rotate the Round Tool counterclockwise to loosen the caseback. The caseback can then be removed.​

Install The New Caseback
Store your old caseback and install your new caseback. Place the caseback onto your watch, and lightly thread in with your fingers before screwing in with the tool to ensure tightness.
Note: Ensure that your watch's sealing gasket is secured. On occasion, they may stick to the old caseback and lift out of their groove.

Enjoy Your Movement
Secure and store all tools and parts. Congratulations! You're done with the installation.
